Rep. Hamzy Receives “Leadership Award” from Plymouth Chamber of Commerce

Hartford- Last Wednesday night at Nuchies Restaurant, state Representative William Hamzy (R- Plymouth) received the “Leadership Award” from the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce during their annual awards dinner. Representative Hamzy received the award for the leadership he has shown over the past year while advocating on behalf of local businesses.

“It is an honor that the Chamber recognized me with this award,” Hamzy stated after receiving his plaque Wednesday. “The small businesses that are members of the Chamber of Commerce provide hundreds of jobs and contribute tax revenue to our town. We have to do all that we can to keep these businesses alive and well.  To me it’s just common sense.”

“Over the past year, there have been dozens of anti-business proposals introduced in the state legislature which would hinder these businesses’ ability to compete.  Raising taxes and increasing regulation is the surest way to force more and more employers to go out of business which will result in more people losing their jobs.  I will continue to advocate on behalf of these employers to help them succeed here, expand their operations and hire more people.  That should be our primary goal this legislative session.”
